3 Easy Ways to Start Ranking For Your Keywords in 2025

2025 is the first year in a long while where a new search engine feature has been added… And this addition is not only ranking at the top of the search engine results page, but it’s also quickly becoming present 1 out of every 2 searches. A whopping 50% of the time you can expect this feature to be present…

To make sure everyone is aware, I am talking about the AI Overview box in Google.

And want to know something crazy?

It’s so new that most brands - even the cutting edge ones - aren’t focused on it. So there is a huge opportunity to start ranking for your local & niche keywords today. So let’s dive in!

First, What is a Search Engine Results Feature (SERP Feature)?

Great question - this is some marketing lingo that I can quickly distill into layman’s terms for you. Simply put, SERP features are just different things that populate on the screen when someone searches for something.

Things like…

  • People Also Ask
  • Images
  • YouTube Videos
  • Discussion & Forums
  • Google Maps
  • AI Overviews
  • and even just regular organic website listings

These all count as SERP features.

Why are SERP Features important?

Well, SEO is all about showing up higher up in the search results… so SERP features are important because people see your brand first. This is especially important for brands in emergency services like plumbing and HVAC…

When someone loses AC in the middle of summer - the first thing they do is go to Google and type in HVAC companies near me… then they pick from the Google Map’s listings or from a company that ranks highly for that term. So SERP features are important because timing & capturing user intent is everything…

And showing up higher increases the chances of being contacted.

So What are the 3 Easy Ways to Start Ranking for your keywords?

If you read or watch my content, you know I love how systematic it can be to show up for AI overviews. I covered exactly how to show up in AI Overviews in my most recent blog so definitely check that out.

Interestingly enough, the way you show up for AI overviews gives you a slight edge for showing up for these 2 other spots I think are often under rated on search results pages.

The #1 most underrated spot on SERPs

YouTube video placements. This is my biggest, “secret” weapon. Frankly, it’s shocking to me how easy and simple it can be to show up in the YouTube search results section for your keywords nowadays.

I mentioned in a previous video but YouTube videos give you a 20% bump in AI Overview distribution - but what I didn’t mention is that these same YouTube videos also capture valuable space on Google search results pages.

And why is that?

Well, Google actually owns YouTube. And YouTube is actually the #2 largest search engine in the world? Crazy right? So what does that mean?

Well, you get to double dip with your YouTube video creation in not only AI overviews - which I mentioned earlier are populating 50% of the time - but also YouTube video recommendations that populate frequently for niche or location specific searches.

So What should you do about this?

You have got to start developing YouTube explainer videos for your keyword specific pages. And if your website isn’t optimized to highlight keywords you want to show up for in Google - then you should reach out to us - we can audit your site and give you the quick and dirty on exactly how to get your site ranking for terms that will drive you more business.

The #2 underrated spot on SERPs

Images. Yes, Images are also very underrated. Why do I think this? Well, again, the content that gets cited by AI is usually rich - meaning it has YouTube videos, dense word length, unique/new content, and infographic/supplementary visual support.

Yes. Google has what is called Optical Character Recognition (OCR) capabilities. So yes, text on your images is read and factored into SEO. Like I mentioned with Google’s transcription capabilities with you videos - images & infographics give you roughly the same kind of benefit - more content that is new & exciting for the AI overview to cite.

But ALSO like YouTube videos - not only does the AI overview like to cite your content when it is rich with videos & images - but there are also SERP features that include just images. So if your content consistently has branded, helpful infographics with new data & information - then when your prospective clients are searching for services/products you offer - you get a bump in AI overviews and the organic image feature on the search engine page.

So what should you do?

Simple. Make good content that also has infographic support in the form of images. And if you don’t have that capability in house with your marketing team - then you can get great support not only for images but also for YouTube video & organic SEO by reaching out to us.

Wrapping Up

When you pair AI Overview optimization, YouTube Videos, and Infographics into your Search engine optimization game plan - you have a recipe to show up 3x as often as you would by just writing good content. Google favors rich content which includes high word count, unique content, YouTube videos and infographics.
